For more than two decades, Dr. Cassandra Edwards has transformed personal experience into purposeful community action.
Her journey reflects an enduring commitment to service, faith, education, advocacy, and healing.
Each chapter represents a legacy built through leadership, love, resilience, and hope.

My commitment to family, faith, service, and community began with the generations before me. My grandparents and parents modeled strength, resilience, responsibility, and care for others. Their lives shaped the woman, mother, advocate, and leader I became.
Before there was an organization, there was a commitment to serve. The early years were spent meeting families where they were in neighborhoods, apartment buildings, churches, schools, and community centers. Whether distributing school supplies, organizing neighborhood gatherings, or responding to immediate needs, these moments laid the foundation for a lifetime of community advocacy. They taught me that meaningful change begins by showing up, listening, and building trust one family at a time.

As the work expanded, Advocating for Change became a trusted bridge between families, community organizations, schools, churches, and essential resources. Through clothing drives, family outreach, community events, advocacy, and direct support, the organization continued meeting immediate needs while helping families navigate toward long-term stability. This work was grounded in service, relationships, and the belief that It Doesn’t Hurt to Know More.

The work continues. In this season, I have focused on building the next chapter of my life’s work. Through extensive writing and reflection I published my first book, Finding Purpose Through Ordinary Moments: My Community Was My Classroom, while also developing Full Court Healing™: Lit. Nate’s Legacy, a community-centered framework that transforms personal loss into collective healing and action. At the same time, I am strengthening Advocating for Change for its next generation of service by creating training programs, educational resources, strategic partnerships, and opportunities to support schools, faith communities, nonprofit organizations, and families. While much of this work has taken place through research, writing, planning, and collaboration, it is laying the foundation for lasting community impact.
